Property Holdings became a new addition to the GHL stable when municipal properties were transferred over from Gisborne District Council. This arm of GHL manages a large and diverse portfolio of property including commercial, tenant occupied rentals, farm land and forestry. The properties owned by GHL include the site of the new GDC administration building and Civil Defence hut; the WINZ office and tenanted house in Ruatoria; the GDC archive office and workshops, Vehicle Testing NZ workshop and Bridgestone workshop in Banks Street; GDC Dog Pound and leased farmland at Dunstan Road; Gisborne Vehicle Testing in Carnarvon Street; the GDC administration
building, Services South East Works depot and other buildings at Waiapu Road; and the Waikanae Beach Top Ten Holiday Park – above ground structures only, with the land owned by GDC. Property Holdings also acts at landlord to the GDC Customer Services in Gladstone Road; GDC’s two floors in the Emerald Hotel; GDC administration in Kahutia Street; GDC administration in Customhouse Street; and The Works Building where GDC and GHL administrations centres are run. All of the properties are overseen by business manager Rob Budd, who also has the management contract with GDC for staff housing, community housing, forestry and the airport lease.
