Waikanae Beach TOP 10 Holiday Park is extending its accommodation offering and future-proofing itself with the addition of six fully-serviced apartments.
Gisborne Holdings Ltd business manager Matt Moore says it is a changing market, with the Freedom Camping Act having a real impact on everyone in the accommodation industry.
The Holiday Park prides itself on having accommodation for every budget and the new two and three bedroom apartments will fill a need in the market.
“We now have everything from a tent site to a cabin, motel and now these apartments, so there is something for everyone,” he says. “These are a great addition to the Holiday Park and offer the most amazing views.”
Dawson Building Company started the six-month construction project in July. Rob Budd, general manager – commercial property and projects – had plenty of praise for the local company who he said were doing a “sterling job”.
As well as the new apartments, a cover is going on the Park’s award-winning pool to make it usable year-round.
“Our intention is to increase bookings during the shoulder and winter seasons and this will certainly do that,” says Mr Moore.
The new roof will still allow plenty of natural light and the sides feature stacking doors for ventilation and good indoor-outdoor flow. The cover is expected to be completed by mid October.
The Holiday Park’s visitors are 70% domestic and already have solid bookings for the summer months.
